![]() Shiori, while being a princess, showed such strength and perseverance in a story that throws her so many curveballs. In my opinion, any fantasy story is enhanced by the addition of a dragon and it will generally be my favourite part, no matter how big or little their role in the story actually is. The whole story definitely had that magical fairytale vibe that sweeps you into the story.īy far my favourite aspect of the story was a shape-shifting dragon because… I absolutely adore dragons. This made the story feel very new and fresh to me, while also garnering a curiosity in me about the stories that inspired it. It could be because I am not very familiar with the stories it was inspired by (The Wild Swans and Madame White Snake). I am 50/50 on fairytale inspired books but, I absolutely loved this one. Left voiceless and alone, she must search for her brothers and attempt to set the kingdom right again. A curse is placed on Shiori that for every word she speaks, one of her brothers will die. Her stepmother, who has dark magic of her own, banishes Shiori and turns her brothers into cranes. ![]() On the morning of her betrothal ceremony, she loses control, not only stalls the wedding she never wanted, but also catches the attention of her stepmother, Raikama. Living in a land where magic is forbidden, she has to conceal that such magic runs through her veins. Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim is about Shiori, the princess of Kiata. ![]()
